Digi-Tags will be the supporting platform for the RPO and its obligations.
Specialising in diagnostic and interventional medical imaging, Radiodiagnose VZW strives to provide optimal service to patients. Working with safe medical equipment and in a safe manner for both staff and patients is of utmost importance in this regard. The local Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) plays a crucial role in this. To support this person, Radiodiagnose VZW decided in April 2025 to apply the Digi-Tags concept.
Before implementing Digi-Tags, consistent task tracking was a major challenge: confusing work files, confusing file storage, difficulty setting up an internal system to achieve periodicity, etc. With a single platform, Digi-Tags offers a solution to all these potential shortcomings.
We spoke to Gretel Wybraeke, local radiation protection agent for several sites of Radiodiagnose VZW, about her initial experiences with the platform. As the main user of the platform, Gretel has the best insight into how Digi-Tags has simplified her work.
No more confusing Excel files
‘Until April 2025, follow-up was done using Excel. Not only is this confusing, but it also requires extra effort to follow up on a regular basis,’ says Gretel. After introducing Digi-Tags, Gretel no longer has to think about this. ‘Via the Digi-Tags platform, I now always have a clear overview of which assignments are in my name and what the final deadline is before they have to be completed.’ With one click, the necessary checklist can be filled in immediately.
A series of simple OK/NOK questions, with the option to add an extra comment where necessary, keeps the follow-up sufficiently accessible, yet efficient. At the end of the checklist, there is the option to assign a status (everything compliant, everything compliant with comments, non-compliant).
As the person in charge, it is advantageous for Gretel to have a status overview of all equipment for multiple sites on a single page, but also to be able to filter/group efficiently to obtain an overview per site.
Immediate results after a quick QR scan
A quick scan of the QR code allows both internal staff (imaging specialists, doctors, etc.) and external staff (radiation experts, maintenance technicians) to view the latest status, which increases efficiency during interventions. The use of Digi-Tags has greatly simplified communication with radiation experts. The cumbersome follow-up of Excel checklists is now a thing of the past.
Experienced team of experts to provide support
‘Starting something new always brings a number of challenges, but with the professional support of a team of experienced experts from Vinçotte, the difficulties are evaluated together, and an efficient solution is found,’ says Gretel.
