Engineering the Future: Supporting the KU Leuven Hydro Team

Yesterday, we attended a partner event hosted by the KU Leuven Hydro Team

It was inspiring to see the progress of the Hydrocar firsthand and to get a deeper look at the ambitious milestones the team has set for the coming months.

The Next Phase: Power & Pressure

The team is currently entering a pivotal stage of the build and two major upgrades are on the horizon that will take the Hydrocar to the next level:

  • The Engine Swap: The existing V6 engine is being replaced with a new, optimized power unit specifically designed to push the boundaries of hydrogen combustion.
  • High-Pressure Integration: The installation of the high-pressure hydrogen fuel system is about to begin, a vital component of the car.

Safety First with Vinçotte

At Vinçotte, we believe that innovation is only as strong as the safety framework supporting it. As a proud partner of the Hydro Team, we are stepping in to provide our expertise during this critical integration phase.

Once the high-pressure system is installed, our experts will conduct a comprehensive visual inspection. In a project where experimental technology meets high-pressure gases, ensuring every connection, weld, and component is fit for service isn't just a formality, it’s a necessity for the safety of the pilot and the whole hydro car project.

Watching these talented students bridge the gap between theory and a high-performance hydrogen vehicle is remarkable and we are happy to contribute making sure their hydrogen-powered car can achieve their dream of participating in the 2030 Le Mans 24 Hours race.
