Many of our customers need to secure not only their IT environments but also have operational technology (OT) that requires protection.
Production environments, automated warehouses, laboratories, and R&D facilities, all equipped with PLCs, IoT devices, sensors, and control systems, are vital to business continuity.
Yet, we notice that many of these clients still lack knowledge regarding industrial (OT) cybersecurity—this applies to staff in production and engineering departments as well as internal IT teams.
However, cyber resilience is more important than ever today. It is not merely a "nice-to-have" or a burdensome legal obligation that simply incurs costs. Moreover, if a cyberattack brings your business to a standstill, the consequences extend beyond your company to affect your customers, employees, and suppliers; the entire supply chain is impacted.
A study by the Flemish government reveals that 60.7% of companies view a lack of relevant internal cybersecurity knowledge, skills, and experience as an obstacle to implementing and utilizing cybersecurity measures.
Notably, the NIS2 directive explicitly prioritizes training. The Belgian CyberFundamentals Framework translates this into concrete terms for professionals in specialized roles—such as IT managers, automation engineers, and software developers—stipulating that they must receive role-specific training to ensure they possess the necessary cybersecurity knowledge and skills to perform their duties while accounting for cybersecurity risks.
For this reason, we are placing extra emphasis on this topic in the coming months and wish to highlight several concrete opportunities for training.
