Roger Van Steenbergen, new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Vinçotte
The Vinçotte Group is in the business of certification, controls, inspections, quality insurance and technical training, with particular emphasis on the following sectors: energy, transport, real estate, the environment and agri-foodstuffs.
Its President is delighted to be able to announce the news that Mr Roger Van Steenbergen is being appointed as Chief Executive Officer starting from 18 February 2008, for a three- year term. In charge of day-to-day management, he will also be responsible for realizing the Strategic Plan. The post has been vacant since 1 January 2007, when the Board of Directors decided to set up an Executive Committee, chaired by the President of the Vinçotte Group, until a new CEO was appointed.
Roger Van Steenbergen graduated with a MEng degree in electromechanical engineering in 1970, and was awarded an industrial management diploma in 1971. He masters several languages: Dutch, French, English, German and even Spanish (but his knowledge is passive in the latter case).
He started his career with ACEC in 1971 and ended up becoming the General Manager of the electromechanical equipment division. After spending a short period with ACEC Energie, which was then a subsidiary of GEC-Alstom, he joined Siemens S.A-Belux in 1991 as Manager of the industrial installations division, rising through the ranks and ending his career in the company this year, at the age of 60, in the position of Executive Vice-President. In this capacity he was responsible for the following activities: Sales, Developments and after-sales service in the context of Energy, Industry and Transport and Exports, particularly in North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Africa. He is also President of the Siemens SA-Belux works council.
Roger Van Steenbergen has also served several terms as a director, including one with the Union Wallonne des Entreprises (UWE). He was Vice-President of the Sectoral Committee – Electronics for Agoria (formerly Fabrimetal), a Committee of which he is now a member. He joined Vinçotte's Boards of Directors in 2000 and now chairs Vinçotte's Strategic Committee.
His appointment by unanimous approval of the AV Inter asbl Board of Directors is the outcome of a stringent process embarked upon when the nominations were opened to Directors and Members of the Executive Committee last November.
