Belgian accreditations & certifications

In Belgium accreditations are awarded by BELAC. These include certificates that are awarded to certification or assessment organisations such as Vinçotte and which give formal proof of their competence to award certificates, to perform inspections and assessments or to organise training.

BELAC is the name of the umbrella organisation:

  • BELCERT: accreditations of certification organisations and environmental assessor
  • BELTEST: accreditations of test laboratories and inspection organisations
  • BKO/OBE: accreditations of calibration laboratories

A product that comes with a report by an accredited institution such as Vinçotte can only gain in l credibility in terms of its quality and its conformity with the specifications. It is in the interests of Vinçotte’s partners to have all their products and services certified: they can then count on strengthening their clients' confidence, easier market access and potential opportunities for lower insurance premiums.

Vinçotte was literally there from the very beginning
When the ‘General Regulations for the Protection of the Working Environment’ were established, in 1947, AIB and Vinçotte (which merged in 1989) had already acquired such extensive experience in the fields of safety and assessment, that the relevant ministers authorised them to inspect how most of the regulations' provisions were being applied.
